Dr. Matthew B. Thompson attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL on a full scholarship graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. Following assignments as an Army officer in Military Intelligence, Dr. Thompson was accepted to the Texas A&M Health Science Center Baylor College of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate in Dental Surgery in 2007. While in dental school, Dr. Thompson volunteered in the Dallas Big Brother Program, provided Pro bono dental care to the local community earning the Annual Dental Student Award for Service, and served as both class president and vice-president.
Resuming active-duty status after his studies, Dr. Thompson was deployed to Iraq where he provided dental care and served as triage officer for the 4th Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division. Upon his return, Dr. Thompson pursued two years of advanced study at the US Army Advanced Education in Endodontics at Fort Gordon, GA earning his credentials as a board-eligible endodontist. He passed his oral and written boards, and plans to submit case studies within the next year which will make him a Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics.
Dr. Thompson most recently provided endodontic services for the Army at Ft. Lee, Virginia as well as in a private practice in the Williamsburg, Virginia area. He loves mentoring general dentists interested in the field of endodontics and has given numerous lectures and presentations. He is published in both The Journal of the American Dental Association and The Journal of Endodontics.
Dr. Thompson is devoted to his wife, Alicia, and son, Caleb. He enjoys outdoor activities, playing the piano, participating in church events, and hanging out with his Miniature Schnauzer.
