When trying to determine if treatment for your dental problems can help with your headaches, your dentist will first examine the jaws for signs of TMJ disorder. If the jaws have shifted or become improperly aligned, pain can be a result, causing your headaches or migraines.
Below are a few signs that you may be suffering from TMJ disorder:
X-Rays will be taken to view the jawbone and any abnormalities in the facial muscles. Once your problem has been determined, there are a few ways to treat it. Your dental issue may be fixed with something as simple as wearing a night guard to bed or using a corrective mouthpiece. On the other end of the spectrum, you may need oral reconstructive surgery. Your dentist will discuss your problem and the possible treatments.
For more information about TMJ disorder, please contact your general dentist and make an appointment. If you have any endodontic concerns, please don’t hesitate to call Endodontic Specialists at one of our locations in Colorado Springs North and Pueblo, Colorado.
